Spent the day at the lake yesterday, but not in the relaxing-in-the-boat-napping-in-a-hammock sort of way.  We are closing in on completion of a weekend house on Lake Barkley in KY.

The interiors are getting last minute carpentry work.

The tiles are being grouted.

Lights are being hung.

And the pantry is very busy being beeyoooteeful.

In the next few weeks, we will start delivering furniture, window treatments and margaritas.

I think the iron base he created sets the tone for the whole project.  It’s expertly crafted and a perfect fit for the new design.

The next major concern was the abundance of dark cabinetry.  The existing cabinets were wood-stained with copper insets and we opted to change all of the base cabinets to white and make new doors in a Shaker-style for a fresh start.  The dynamic duo of Mike Hubbard and Rob Huffman used their tremendous experience with woodworking and millwork to craft a perfect retro-fit for this overhaul.  All of the new components and existing frames were sprayed by Roddy Love for a factory-finish.

This once dark alley of pantry doors… is now a sleek, clean run of fresh white cabinetry.

The last major change was the line of upper cabinets on the refrigerator wall.  We removed the entire wall of cabinets and returned with reclaimed beams and custom-made iron brackets for industrial-inspired open-shelving.

We are tickled with the results… and we hope the pics are pin-worthy.

And we hope if Dolly ever decides to stop by, that she likes what we’ve done with the place!

It’s a great way to share our vision across the miles!

Welcome to a happy, colorful way of living. These vibrant walls house an energetic family of seven.

The biggest challenge was meeting the colorful wishes of the homeowners and balancing sophistication.
Strong, fresh moldings and dark stained floors provided a canvas for the colors to jump.

The homeowners collection of folk art is a playful way to add interest and layers to the bright walls.

Mitzi used the soft yellow, cream and gray to inspire everything else in the room.
The vintage bookcase was a special project. It was an open shelf converted with reclaimed window panes. The outside was painted a creamy white and the inside a

pale yellow.

The window treatments were a labor of love from our fabricator Lisa Venable. Mitzi designed the smocked drapes and chose a gray ribbon for the hemline.
Lisa hand-smocked the panels… her way of adding a special touch.

The homeowners are now proud parents of a beautiful baby girl with a pretty and sophisticated nursery.

This room was ready just in time for little Maggie’s arrival.

Many of you have had the pleasure of meeting and working with the talents of our sweet Lisa Venable. She and her husband Dan, along with their four biological children, are finalizing the adoption of their two foster children. We would love to be able to help, even in a small way.

Clark Hook is the graphic design genius behind our brand which includes an amazing logo, business cards and the Tour poster you’ll find attached. Clark and his wife, Angie, adopted sweet Levi and are anxiously waiting Evan. Evan is still in an orphanage in Russia and she, like her big brother Levi, has Down’s Syndrome.

They are loving families and have committed all of their resources to finalizing their adoptions, but the costs are staggering.

We always knew we wanted to throw our tremendous energy into a project we believe in… we just wanted to find the right one. I Choose You is part of the Moses Basket Program at Fellowship Bible Church in Franklin. The profit raised from the Tour ticket sales will go DIRECTLY to The Venable and Hook families.
