So for us designer-types, opening an account with a new company feels a bit like being a kid on Christmas. New toys to play with, new treasures to make other people jealous with…etc., etc. But really, it opens a world of new possibilities to show our clients and customers and spawns creativity. Well, lucky for us, today is one of those Christmas-like days! I’m super excited to announce that we have become a retailer for Custom Cool Rugs (the only one in the south thus far)! The name, quite literally, says it all. They are custom rug makers with a fresh spin on design. They can literally do ANYTHING you ask of them, short of making one of their rugs into a magic carpet (yet to be seen).

There is something brewing behind the scenes at our little shop. Granted, we have always had a little swagger. It had always been a kind of a cute swagger. Not swag.
But in the past year , we have shaken things up a bit. We have expanded our brood to include four fresh, young, talented women.
We will introduce you to them here, one by one, in the coming posts. But the next time you are in Franklin, we invite you to come by and introduce yourself.
Here is a sneak peek at our photo shoot. Behind the camera was the amazing Molly Brown-Boulay. the new photos will help you get to know our whole team a little better.
We’re still pretty cute, but our new team members have breathed some new life into our magical little shop.

We are home from our Spring pilgrimage to the High Point Furniture Market!

It’s hard to describe the Market experience to those of you who haven’t had the pleasure. It’s a trip through beauty-land at a break-neck pace. It’s an entire city made up of furniture showrooms. It looks like any other smallish city… but it’s oh-so different.

High Point, NC

Our trip always feels a little bit like a sitcom. We scream when we see something really, really pretty. Like this:

We also pose with furniture. We say that we do it for scale reference. Sometimes we do it cause we want to have our picture taken.

We also get a chance to visit our existing vendors and see their new introductions and fabrics… Four Season’s introduced this pretty, peppy ikat.

We also get a chance to see vendors that have peaked our curiosity on design blogs, in magazines, and on sites like Pinterest.

Like Society Social. I have been emailing Roxy for more than a year. I saw her whimsical, colorful bar carts, occasional furniture and upholstery online and fired off a message about being desperate to have her products in our shop.

Then, lo and behold, we rounded the corner in the IHFC Building and saw her logo! She showed at Market for the very first time and we got to meet, hug and joke with her. So obviously we had a picture taken, too.

Seeing Ro Sham Beaux in person was great… they have lights that look like jewelry for your house. And if you know a single iota about me, you will know that I love some baubles.

We leave for High Point, NC in the morning.

Furniture City

It’s our semi-annual trip to see the latest and greatest that our industry has to offer. It’s like fashion week for your house. Vendors strut new fabric, frames, casegoods and styles down the runway, and we sit (wearing fabulous sunglasses) and select from our favorites. Actually, that’s a really glamorous way to say she schlep our way through every showroom in the city. There is almost no sitting at all. Except to test drive new chairs and sofas. (see below)

We brought Patti (and Mitzi) home and dressed her in a new outfit. Then we put Posy on Patti. Cute, right?

This year, Christine is coming with us! It will be her first Market and I’m excited for her to take everything in. If she’s anything like I was, she will feel incredibly inspired, overwhelmed and ready to come back to Nashville and get to work!

She doesn’t know yet that there is a little bonus to the whole Market experience.

Well y’all…there is nothing that I love more than a weekend (well maybe a few things). And this particular weekend is going to be a blast because not only is the forecast amazing, but it’s Market week starting Sunday!! *woot* Yes, for us interior designer types High Point is our Mecca. I fully plan on the Redo team returning to Franklin in a creativity-induced coma with empty pockets and full credit cards. So in lieu of this weekend we would like to raise a toast to all things beautiful for the home and offer 25% off all wall-coverings through the end of next week. Inspiration Time

I don’t know about you, but this painting by one of our uber-talented local artists inspired me to go frolic in a field, gaze at the stars, and dance like there was no one watching. However, there was in fact someone watching, and things got awkward quickly. But regardless…the talent she has blows my mind.

She also created this little nugget Ms. Posy….

Bathroom for the birds.

Most of the time the hall bathroom (powder room, half-bath, whatevs) is relegated to the lowest of standards. Commode, sink, done.

On the occasion that you run across one of the inventive minds at our little Redo… you can prepare for your mind to be blown. In the bathroom. And, no, we’re not kidding. We like a powder room to tip just past the edge of your comfort zone. We like you to shudder at the idea of maybe being that cool, but then fear you can’t pull it off… then do it anyway.

We like a chevron ceiling, black on black wallpaper… or maybe even a room that has gone cuckoo crazy.

Let’s be clear. Both kinds of bathrooms work the same way. Go in. Do your business. Wash your hands (please!). Redo bathrooms add an item to that list.

It’s the, “That’s right. That just happened.”. The “I loooveeee your bathroom!”. The “Holy shitake mushrooms, your bathroom is gorgeous!”. The… something. Something other than just using the facilities. It’s a reaction. A reaction to your decision to go ahead and be fabulous. And maybe a little outrageous. And maybe, baby, that bathroom will just turn into your favorite room in the house!

Hey, Fever

So there I am enjoying the unseasonably warm weather and thinking “Wow I made it through this entire winter season without getting the flu…it must be because I’m so healthy and smart and funny.” But much to my dismay I woke up with a killer monster virus, desperately needing one of these….

But seriously, can they sell this at Target?! I would buy one today. Anyway, I digress, my point is that my morning looked a lot like this…

But then I received a sort of “Get Well” present from one of our vendors. These bright, happy, lovely pillows. So I dragged myself out of my kleenex-covered dungeon of an office and went outside in the sun to snap a picture of these…

And then suddenly my cold was gone! Ok, that part didn’t happen. But seeing something so beautious did give me hope for a better day tomorrow.
