Highrise Surprise
December 13, 2008
12/12/08- What a weekend! Planning and preparing for the Encore condo has been a thrill from the beginning. One of the joys of designing this decorating plan was getting to know the owners so I could create an environment that is reflective of them. Shopping and planning for this project gave me a chance to try-on an urban lifestyle with edgy, contemporary style.
This home is not only occupied by the busy homeowners, but also a temporary workspace for one of the owners. This installation had to happen over one single weekend so living and working were not interrupted.
The Encore’s 15th floor was a hive of activity this weekend as several months of planning came to fruition in just 72 hours.
The homeowners left on Friday morning and that’s when a crew installing mirrors, wallpaper, paint, lighting, art and furniture moved in. Some of Margie’s family joined us Sunday to bring all of the details to life.
I think all of the crews enjoyed being a part of this special surprise and therefore went above and beyond in their efforts.
I had the pleasure of seeing Margie and Dave’s reaction to their newly decorated condo when they arrived back in Nashville on Sunday evening. What a thrill for me to watch them explore their home!
Here are some before/after photos. More to come. Enjoy the photos, then visit www.flackrabbit.com and www.groovysoup.com
10/30/2008-Dave and Margie are a young, hip couple who traded in the suburbs for a spectacular loft on the 15th floor of downtown Nashville’s Encore. http://www.encoresobro.com/
This 977 sq.ft. home is sleek and sophisticated, but doesn’t yet reflect the design style of its homeowners. Dave and Margie are looking for modern, edgy design that injects personality and sentiment into their urban haven.
I can’t wait to get started. I’m thinking floating fireplaces, a zebra skin area rug and a red undulating ceiling…

After

After
Nate and Valerie have a warm and welcoming house in Franklin that isn’t yet a reflection of their family. They are active with their two boys and want a chic, current design that is very livable.
The kitchen is the first task to tackle with a remodel on the island and resurfacing on the cabinetry.
After that, new flooring will set the stage for fresh color, art, lighting and details.
Their taste is nearly spot-on with mine, so this will be a shopping dream to renovate their house with all of the things I covet. The first steps are in progress, the reno will begin in January.
Update! Nate and Valerie are settled back in to their newly renovated kitchen and updated family room. The island is expanded and is topped with quartz countertops. The cabinets have new, modern doors and are painted a clean, deep gray. The floors are gleaming, wide bamboo planks in a near-ebony finish. New fixture, hardware, window treatments, built-in bookcase and lighting breathe new life into the home. Enjoy!
